Thereafter, proceed to NEGOMBO with comfort stop en route.

Day 02


After breakfast visit the PINNAWELA ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE in time to witness the bathing and bottle feeding of the baby elephants. PINNAWELA ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE – Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage – set amongst the verdant hills of Kegalle is a unique orphanage, where the tiny tots weigh 60 kg or more. This is the Pinnawela

Elephant Orphanage, the world's first and only elephant orphanage established to feed, nurse and house young elephants lost or abandoned by their mothers. Other occupants are elephants displaced from their natural environs by development projects or those found wounded. Visitor could see the baby elephants being fed milk from gigantic feeding bottles or bathed in the river which flows nearby – an unforgettable sight! Established in 1975, by the wildlife Department and National Zoological gardens which subsequently led to a breeding programme through which more than twenty five elephants have been born since 1984.

Continue to Habarana. HABARANA - the central point of Sri Lanka's cultural triangle and the most convenient base for excursions to the Ancient historical cities-Anuradhapura 60 minutes, polonnaruwa 45 minutes, Sigiriya/Dambulla 30 minutes, Ritigala 10 minutes and Minneriya National park (site of the renowned “Gathering” of over 300 Elephant between July and September) 15 minutes. Though in the “Dry Zone” of the country, thanks to the genius of ancient king the Sri Lankan “dry zone” is anything but dry, with hundreds of lakes and reservoirs connected by an elaborate network of canals making up a fascinating irrigation system which also provides some of the most breathtakingly beautiful scenery and fertile habitat Sri Lanka's incredible bio-diversity. This contributes to a large range of activity in the area-village forest walks, bird and wildlife watching, Elephant Back Safari, cycling trekking and boating. Habarana is the location of two of the country's best hotels-The Cinnamon Lodge and Chaaya Village, idyllically located by a peaceful lake and in extensive landscaped gardens which retain most of the original forest trees.

Day 03


After breakfast leave for Elephant back ride & Jeep Safari. Lunch at Habarana. PM: excursion to POLONNARUWA which is the 2 nd Capital of Sri Lanka.

Travel time: 46kms – Approximately 1 hr (one way)

POLONNARUWA – this medieval city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rose to fame as the capital (10 th – 12 th century AD) after the decline of Anuradhapura. The entire landscape of the region is punctuated by huge man-made reservoirs, the most famous of which is the Parakrama Samudra or the sea of Parakrama, larger in size then the Colombo harbor. The monuments are relatively well preserved and give clear evidence of the glory of Sri Lanka's past. Highlights are the Royal Palace complex including the King Palace and Audience Hall, the Quadrangle with its concentration of ancient heritage and the spectacular Gal Vihare complex of four massive images of the Buddha, cut from a single slab of granite – a highlight of ancient Sri Lanka rock carving. Some of the best examples of the Hindu influence – the Temples of Shiva, intricate statues of Hindu Gods, fascinating Buddhist temple, the Lankatileke and Watadage, the Galpotha, the Lotus bath, the Kiri Vihare Dagoba and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth are other impressive sights. P.M witness a Ayurweda Spa .

Day 04 

After breakfast full day excursion to ANURADHAPURA.

Travel time : 60Kms – Approximately1 ½ hrs (one way)

ANURADHAPURA - a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the north central part of the Island was the first capital (5 th century BC – 9 th century AD), the centre of the centre of the island's Buddhist civilization and undoubtedly the grandest city of ancient Sri Lanka. In antiquity and the interest, it is the equal of any ancient, ‘buried city' in the word. The oldest historically documented tree on earth (over 2,200 years old) – The Sri Maha Bodhi, brought as a sapling of the tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment, and the island's oldest Buddhist shrines – some dating back to the 3 rd century BC, impressive white ‘dagabas' (relic chambers) and monuments embellished with handsome stone carvings or sculpture, pleasure gardens, beautifully executed stone beths and ponds a superb irrigation system of reservoirs and canals are the main attractions of Anuradhapura. Specific places to visit are – the Brazen Palace (2 nd century B.C.), with 1600 significant stone columns are the remains of a magnificent multi-storied residence for monks – an engineering marvel at the time, Ruwanweli Seya (2 nd century B.C.) the most famous of all the dagoba ‘s, originally depicted the perfect water-bubble shape that modern restoration has not been able to accurately reproduce, Samadhi Buddha (3 rd century B.C.) regarded as the finest rock sculpture in the island – depicting the Buddha in a state of deep meditation, Isurumuniya rock temple (3 rd century B.C. ) known for its rock carving of the `Lovers' , Kuttam Pokuna, twin ponds (3 rd century B.C.) which were used by monks of this glorious era as a bathing pool. Thuparama (3 rd century B.C) the oldest dagoba in the island- enshrines the right collarbone of Buddha, Ratnaprasada with the best preserved Guard Stone, Mahasena's Palace with its renowned Moonstone, Abayagiri and Jetevanarama –

Day 05


After breakfast leave for TRINCOMALEE. Sightseeing tour of Trincomalee including visits to the koneswaram Temple, Lovers Leap, Fish Market and drive around the city.

Travel time: 95kms - Approximately 2 – 1/2 min

TRINCOMALEE – The region's largest city stands on an isthmus with two deep bays to seaward and a fine natural Inner Harbour to the west. It naturally attracted the attention of European colonial powers as early as the first quarter of the 17 th century, changing hands repeatedly among the Portuguese, the Dutch, the French and the British in a series of side-shows to the European wars of the 17 th and 18 th centuries, before finally falling to a British fleet in 1795. It remained one of the British Empire's most important ports in Asia, and from 1941-45 was the headquarters of the Allied Southeast Asia commander. Lord Louis Mountbatten.

Other distinguished British military men to have sojourned here include Sri Arthur Wellesley (later the Duke of Wellington), who recuperated here in 1799 from fever caught while campaigning against the French and their allies in southern India. In the middle of the Inner Harbour, connected to the isthmus by a narrow causeway, is Powder Island, once a gunpowder magazine for the royal Navy, but now occupied by the Sri Lankan defense force.

Day 07


After breakfast leave for Dambulla and visit the Dambulla Rock Caves Temple.

DAMBULLA- the greatest of Sri Lanka's cave temple, dates from the first century BC and contains 150 Buddha image, subtly lit for maximum atmosphere. Actually a series of five caves, the temple is called Raja Maha Vihare by local, but known simply as Dambulla to visitors. The entrance is marked by a large white dagoba along a long sloping rock face, from where there are views of the rock fortress Sigiriya, about 20km away. Most of the caves were carved out by hand and some of the amazing arrays of Buddha statues are still attached to the wall.

There after proceed to Matale visiting a spice Garden en route to see spices growing in their natural habits. Learn about spices and their use in Sri Lankan cuisine.

Continue to KANDY.

KANDY – Sri Lanka's hill capital, stronghold of the Sinhala Kings, is our most beautiful town. The focal point of the town is, without doubt, the golden roofed Dalada Maligawa. The highlight of the years is the Esala Perahera, when a replica of the relic casket is taken in procession accompanied by exotically costumed dancers, drummers and elephants during ten glittering nights in July/August. Visit Kalapuraya in the beautiful Dumbara valley. There many shrines and Temple, where will see rare painting, frescoes, wood and stone carvings.

Check in to the hotel.

P.M city to of Kandy including visits to the Temple of the Tooth, Market Square and Upper lake Drive Late evening witness a cultural show .

DALADA MALIGAWA of the Temple of the sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy is the most venerated place of worship for Buddhists throughout the world. Built in the 16 th century this temple houses the sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha brought to Sri Lanka from the Kalinga Province in ancient India in the 4 th century AD. Several buildings have been added to the temple complex by successive rulers, the latest being the Golden Canopy over the inner shrine where the Tooth Relic is placed. Originally the Temple was within the King's palace complex as it was the symbol of Royal Authority.

After breakfast visit the ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS – The Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya (109 km. from Colombo) near Kandy was laid out in 1821 by the British colonial rulers. Prior to that it was the Royal Pleasure Garden of the Kandyan Kings. It is located in a beautiful setting with the longest river of Sri Lanka, Mahaveli bordering on one side. This attractively laid out garden displays many varieties of floral and green plants. Special features are the trees planted by distinguished visitors to the Island.

Continue to Benthota.

Dinner – Hotel.

Overnight at Benthota Beach Hotel or similar.

After breakfast leave for Water Sport & etc:

Lunch – Benthota.

P.M at leisure by the beach / pool .
